The Study on the Biological Characteristics, Resistant Pattern of Antimicrobial Agents to Pathogenic Staphylococci from the Air in the Hospitals and Theaters

Abstract
Author attempted to investigate the degree of contamination of the air and biological characteristics of isolated Staphylococci in the theaters and hospitals.
The investigated periods were from June to August on 1977 and from May to July in 1978 in 12 theaters and from June to August in 1978 in hospitals in Kwang Ju city.
The isolation rate, biological charateristics and antibiotics-resistance of the isolated Staphylococci were studied.
The results were summarized as follows:
1. Staphylococci were isolated from all the places. The isolation rates in the each theaters were 26.6% in G, 24.3% in J, 24. 0% in M, 21. 0¡Æo in Jo, 20.6% in A, 17. 9% in S, 14.8% in Jo, 14. 0% in K, 13. 0% in H, 12.7% in D, 12. 1% in Ha, 8.4% in N, and average percentage of isolation rates was 17.4% in the theaters.
2. Isolation rate in 3 the hospitals were 59.3% in the Clinic of Medicine, 55. 1% in the fifth ward, 50.7% in the Clinic of Ulology, 49.5% in the Clinic of Obstetrics, 46.0% in the Clinic of Surgery, 45.9% in the Laboratory, 43.9% in the Waiting room, 43. 1% in the Mess hall, 39.6% in the third ward, 34.6% in the Toilet and in the Second ward, 34.3% in the Delivery room, 33.7% in the First ward, 26.3% in the Nursery room, 25.5% in the Operating room, and Average percentage of isolation rates was 40.2% in the Hospital.
3. Antibiotics-resistances of 40 isolated Staphylococci by random sampling method were 70. 0% in TC, 50. 0% in Nb, 47.5% in Pc, 45. 0% in EM, 30. 0% in CM, 25. 0% in SM, 17.5%, in NM, and 7.5% in KM.
